The chip in the finish of the product is a result of the seasoning process during production. The cookware is hung on a conveyer as it goes through the seasoning process. An electrostatic sprayer applies a natural vegetable oil seasoning to the pan as it moves through the seasoning tunnel. During this process, the seasoning oil can sometimes collect into a small bubble at the lowest point of the pan. When the pan is heated in the seasoning ovens, this bubble can develop a baked-like surface, which may flake and reveal a brownish color beneath. This brownish color is not rust, but rather caramelized seasoning that is baked onto the iron itself, and it will disappear with use. It is important to note that this is inherent in the seasoning process and not a defect.

The 4-Quart Camp Dutch Oven is designed for campfire or fireplace cooking. It is made of seasoned cast iron that is ready to use. The cast iron lid can be inverted for use as a griddle. This product is proudly made in the U.S.A. and has inside dimensions of 10-inch diameter by 3.5-inch deep.
